25 Responses to Top 5 Movie Posters of Summer 2012

  1. Sally Smith says:

I can’t wait to see The Dark Knight Rises – looks like it’s going to be an amazing film from the trailer!

  2. Myr says:

The Batman poster is definitely my favorite! Not sure what to think of the Total Recall remake — I absolutely love the original movie, but I can’t see how they’ll emulate it without Arnie (and I also prefer the old poster).

    • Solopress says:

We’ve got a feeling this version will be more ‘serious’…

  3. Kerry Seery says:

Ahhh, the Batman poster is really good. Very sharp and it would stand out in my mind. How hard does Batman loo?

  4. Maya Russell says:

If there is one poster I’d have it would be the Spider-Man one. I love the aspect of it – of being on the side of a building.

    • Solopress says:

That’s what caught our eye too, Maya. Would you like us to add the romcom Spider-Man poster for you to compare?

  5. Juls says:

I don’t know if I’m alone in this but it feels way too soon to be making yet another Spiderman remake.

  6. Jonathan says:

I saw Prometheus. Quite good, but I had to go to Wikipedia afterwards to try and make sense of the plot!

    • Candice VH says:

Me too! Jonathan, The film started SO well and I was very impressed throughout the first half but then it just went a little strange…no effort made to explain the story of the big men/gods (whatever they were). I hoped to know what the first scene was all about but still not entirely sure.

      Good Poster though!

  7. Hazel says:

I like the Spiderman poster – I love the depth of field effect. The Prometheus poster is very striking – but it’s not a genre I enjoy!

  8. Candice VH says:

I am very drawn to the Prometheus Poster….it just screams mystery, darkness and adventure. So very well done with so little…. less is more I think is the right words

  9. mike says:

Total Recall looks good… I just can’t get over the fact it’s got Colin Farrell in it though. I can’t watch him.

  10. Ani Costa says:

The Batman Dark Knight Rises is by far the BEST poster on this list! Can’t wait to see the movie XD

  11. Alana says:

The spiderman one. Just looks so much fresher (especially compared to the old spiderman films). Total recall looks really good though!

  12. Ruth Vant says:

Looks like Total Recall will be nothing like the original, Big Ben in the poster! Looking more like Blade Runner based on the book, Do Robots Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick

  13. Gabrielle Brown says:

These posters are all so DARK! Everything about this summer is dark. Dark, rain, dark clouds, more dark rain. Is this a sign? Last night I dreamed that Godzilla and the Loch Ness monster winked at me and said “Guess what, we’re real!”, so now I don’t know what to make of anything. Maybe we’ll have a scorching dry winter.

    • Solopress says:

Interesting take on this summer’s movies and posters, Gabrielle.

Good news! The next Godzilla film isn’t due until 2014.

  14. That is a good observation – All movies have gone dark and serious. When you compare the Bond, Batmans, Spidermans, Supermans etc of old, gone is the tongue in cheek hint of humour – its all seriousness now! But thats not to say its a bad thing. Trends in all areas are good and are only a sign that we’re constantly innovating and moving forward. Who know’s we might take a U-Turn soon and instate Michael McIntyre as the next Bond! On the posters note I liked MIB 3 altho I haven’t seen it yet just as I was so impressed how Josh Brolin is transformed as Tommy Lee!

  15. Verity says:

Total Recall poster is a bit Source Code, isn’t it? I know its not out until December but my favourite poster at the moment is the new Hobbit poster with Gandalf walking towards the front of the poster like he’s about to take you on an adventure! Amazing, simple and effective design.

Prometheus poster is pretty awesome but the massive head doesn’t actually Do anything, which I admit I was expecting from the poster! Oh well, still a pretty visually impressive movie.

  16. Eloise says:

Love The Bourne Legacy Poster! Visually it just looks so good! Amazing!! :)

  17. Jane Townson says:

Some really good films coming up. I like the Total Recall and Prometheus posters the best.

  18. James Gaden says:

The Dark Knight poster steals it for me – the way the perspective of the buildings makes the legendary Batman symbol is a work of Photoshop genius – all the more staggering because I didn’t create it!

  19. Alex says:

Absolutely love the new Batman but I have to say the poster doesn’t quite match this one for The Dark Knight (http://www.getthebigpicture.net/storage/posters/08recap/darkknight06.jpg) – I think this one really captures that Batman has turned ‘Dark’ as oppose to when it was a kids TV show. I love how they have moved this into a really serious film and even managed to make it quite scary!

Would love to see a massive print of the Joker/Batman poster! Could make it pretty awesome using the new 3D printing technique, get the joker smile to stick out at you! What do you think?

  20. Lynne Dickens says:

All very manly posters, focused on action movies. What about romance guys?

    • Solopress says:

      Will do next time, Lynne!
