Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida will slap your face onto a Star Wars Stormtrooper figurine for under $100. 3D printing magic, it is. Hmmmmmm.

3D printed Star Wars Stormtroopers

There’s probably little surprise for you to discover that we are big fans of Star Wars here at Solopress – even if the head of our R&D department insists there are only three movies in the series and point blankly refuses to acknowledge the very existence of Jar Jar Binks. Therefore, using 3D printing to create a Stormtrooper model sporting our ugly mugs is a no-brainer. We must have one. Now.

What’s the snag? You’d have to visit one of Disney’s special Star Wars Weekend summer events in Florida to get the job done. Once there, your face will be scanned using a state-of-the-art 3D scanner built by the scientists at Disney Research Labs. This image is then sent to a high resolution 3D printer to fabricate the Stormtrooper figurine. It’ll take around two months and 100 dollars for the mini-Stormtrooper-me to be made and delivered to your door.
