Try not to panic… it’s Mother’s Day this Sunday (10th March). But why spend your money buying a card from MoonBeef or FunkyChicken dot com, when you could make these beautiful origami flowers at home for FREE!
Follow our easy step-by-step guide:

1. [0:20] Take a sheet of A4 paper. Make a diagonal fold across the middle to make a square


2. [0:50] Cut the bottom rectangle off, or fold and score the join so it may be ripped off

3. [1:05] Fold the paper along the horizontal and vertical middle


4. [1:30] Turn the paper over, and fold along the two diagonals


5. [1:50] Turn the paper over and lift the four corners to the middle

6. [2:05] Squash down into a square

7. [2:10] Fold the left and right corners into the middle

8. [2:25] Turn over and repeat step ‘7’

9. [2:40] Unfold left flap and open across. Squash down


10. [3:05] Unfold and repeat step ‘9’ with right flap
11. [3:15] Turn over and repeat step ‘9’ and step ‘10’ on other side

12. [3:35] During your first practice run, write down North, South, East and West on the paper to help you out

13. [4:05] Fold left and right corners into the middle (North)

14. [4:25] Turn over and repeat step ‘13’ on South

15. [4:35] Open out to reveal sides and repeat step ‘13’ and step ‘14’ on East, West
16. [5:05] (North) unfold previous folds and pull middle down, fold back up

17. [5:45] Repeat step ‘16’ on South, East, West

18. [6:35] (North) pull top to points to open flower out, and tuck middle triangle in


19. [7:00] Repeat step ‘18’ on South, East, West

20. [7:40] (North) fold right and left corners into the middle

21. [8:00] Repeat step ‘19’ on South, East, West
22. [9:05] Use a pen to roll petals down



23. [10:00] As a nice added touch, place your mum’s favourite chocolate or sweet in the centre of the origami flower

Want to surprise your mum when you take her out for a special meal or treat on Mother’s Day? Just leave steps 22 and 23 until you are ready to finish your marvellous, hand-made flowery gift and hand it to her.
